Presentation at the SAP Academic Community Conference DACH 2026
Accepted academic papers will be published as proceedings.
It is also possible to submit already accepted or published papers.
This year’s conference theme “Human-Driven Artificial Intelligence” positions humans as the central control authority of AI systems: goals, values, and success criteria arise from human needs, not from algorithms.
In addition to the classic topics on new developments in process management or the use of current technologies in enterprise and IT architectures, as well as advances in the digital transformation of our companies, we also address questions such as:
- How do we precisely define Human-Driven and Human-Centered AI? What impact does this have on usage and use cases?
- What goals should be pursued when using AI, and what rules do we need to define to ensure implementation is beneficial?
- What methods ensure that AI projects can be successfully carried out for companies?
- What metrics actually measure the success of AI projects?
- What best practices for AI projects exist, and when and how can they be applied?
Ethical principles such as transparency, explainability, fairness, and the role of humans are central, complemented by participatory design, user-friendly interfaces, and applications in areas such as manufacturing, supply chain, (public) administration, or medicine. Societal impacts on democracy, inclusion, and sustainability should be addressed, as well as risks such as ethics-washing or disempowerment.
The conference offers an excellent platform for discussing scientific findings as well as application-oriented reports from business practice, research, and teaching.
Submissions are invited for the following topic areas (tracks, see below), which correspond to the working groups of the SAP Academic Board in the DACH region.
Submissions can be made in the form of:
- academic papers,
- academic/practice-oriented short papers, or
- poster presentations for practical examples or research ideas
in German or English.
It is also possible to submit already accepted or published papers. Submissions will be reviewed in a double-blind process by at least two experienced reviewers.
Accepted new academic papers will be published in the conference proceedings in the book series “Progress in IS” [1] by Springer. Further details below.
We hope for numerous relevant and interesting submissions.

Track 1 – Business Process Management
Chair: Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Scheruhn, Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling; Prof. Dr. Martin Adam
This track addresses current developments in the context of the BPM lifecycle, such as process mining and simulation, RPA, low-code platforms, Human-Driven AI integration, or dashboarding. It also covers the strategic role of BPM for digital transformation and organizational agility. Contributions on the integration of BPM with ERP systems such as SAP are sought.
Track 2 – Use of New Technologies in Commerce, Industry, and Administration
Chair: Prof. Dr. Stefan Stöckler, Prof. Sebastien Gard
This track focuses on examining the latest technologies and their application in the business world, including artificial intelligence, robotics, or cyber-physical production environments, e.g. using the SAP Business Technology Platform. Research questions should address the use of new technologies in combination with business software, e.g. for developing digital business models, process optimization (IoT, RPA, Low/No Code), AI-supported software development, sustainability management, data analytics, or IT/OT convergence. Theoretical contributions, best practices, and use cases in these subject areas are sought.
Track 3 – Digitale Transformation/Management
Chair: Prof. Dr. Peter Langkafel; Prof. Dr. Uta Mathis; Prof. Dr. Stefan Renggli
This track accompanies the discussion on strategies for the digital transformation of companies, the realignment of business models, and the integration of digital technologies into all areas of business — including the impact on positioning, corporate culture (change management, competencies), and organization. Contributions that examine strategies, implementation effects, and impacts from a non-technical perspective are also expressly welcome, for example from a business, organizational, or psychological point of view.
Track 4 – Didactics
Chair: Prof. Dr. Tim Neumann; Prof. Dr. Cordula Boden; Birgit Lankes
The thematic focus of this year’s conference is on innovative teaching methods for conveying competencies and didactic concepts that promote interactive and application-oriented learning formats in SAP education and adjacent areas of digital transformation. These also include the development of people and their skills. Learning technologies and platforms that support the use of ERP systems and Business Process Management (BPM) are also in focus. Contributions presenting best practices for integrating modern technologies into teaching, or showing approaches to current challenges in the educational landscape, are particularly sought in this track. The goal is to actively shape the transformation of teaching through the use of digital technologies.
Track 5 – Internationalization
Chair: Prof. Dr. Jorge Marx Gómez; Prof. Dr. Uta Mathis
Internationalization is the balance between global integration and local requirements. In a world where geopolitical and economic frameworks are increasingly diverging, internationally active companies face the challenge of designing their SAP systems and business processes to be both globally integrated and locally adaptable. While in some regions sustainability goals or data protection requirements take precedence, in others economic efficiency or technological sovereignty dominate. This track examines how companies can design business-IT landscapes and processes to be both multinationally consistent and flexible enough to meet regional requirements. Topics such as regional compliance requirements, diverging sustainability strategies, geopolitical risks, and the role of cloud and hybrid solutions are at the center of the discussion.
Requirements and Submission
Three types of contributions can be submitted in German or English:
- academic papers (12–15 pages),
- academic/practice-oriented short papers (4–8 pages), or
- poster presentations (1 A0 poster).
Academic papers on the conference theme are expected, as are general considerations on the track topics described above. Contributions covering the entire spectrum of these research areas are also accepted. In particular, the examination of AI in a business context can range from application scenarios to ethical questions. The program committee therefore also reserves the right to assign individual papers to different tracks.
Submissions will be reviewed in a double-blind process by at least two experienced reviewers. Contributions must not be AI-generated or AI-assisted; a sworn declaration of originality is required during submission via the conference portal. Accepted academic papers will be published in the conference proceedings in the book series “Progress in IS” [1] by Springer.
Each paper must be submitted via the link provided for each track to the conference tool. Papers may only be submitted for one track. Please use the template in Word format and observe the deadlines given below. By the stated deadline, the submissions must be fully completed and uploaded.
Submissions are not compensated or offset against registration fees. Accepted papers are to be presented at our conference sessions (07 or 08.09.2026) in German or English. Presentations must not exceed 20 minutes and must allow approximately 10 minutes for discussion afterwards.
Springer Publisher Instructions
Please follow the Springer publisher guidelines when preparing your submission.
Review Process
All submissions are blindly reviewed by at least two experienced people. Two versions must therefore be submitted, each with the exact title of the paper in the file name:
Version 1 is identifying — it contains the name(s) and title(s) of all authors as well as their institution(s).
Version 2 is anonymized — names, addresses, etc. are omitted from the cover page and identifying metadata in the Word document is deleted. Additionally, any references in the text that would allow conclusions about the author team must be anonymized.
The review process results in one of three possible outcomes for each submission, which will be communicated to authors in a timely manner:
Paper rejected,
Paper accepted with conditions,
Paper accepted.
Papers “accepted with conditions” must be revised by the author team in line with the feedback. After resubmission, these papers are reviewed once more and either accepted (if the suggested improvements have been incorporated) or rejected.
Publication
Publication requires that at least one of the authors is registered for the conference, has paid the participation fee, and presents the paper in person. All accepted papers must be accompanied by slides, materials, or subsequently documenting working media for shared interaction. These will be made electronically available to participants after the event.
Accepted papers can only be published in the conference proceedings and made available to conference participants in electronic form (PDF/e-book) with an ISSN number if the authors place their submissions under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 2.0 Germany (cc) license. By submitting, the authors grant the conference organizers and their partners the non-exclusive, temporally and geographically unrestricted right to publish and use their contributions in electronic and other forms (e.g. on CD-ROM, DVD, websites, or in print).
